Selamat lebaran!
So how many
“Syawalan” question that your relatives, old-school friends and just about anyone else you met once a year, have asked you this year?
In case you
wonder what a syawalan question is, here’s a glimpse : When you did the minal-aidin salam and these people decided that it would be fascinating to ask you “kapan nikah?
Calonnya mana? Kok gemukan?" questions.
Yup, the kind of question that we received from an aunt we haven’t met for months or years. Aunt, why do you have to swept-off our minal aidin wal faidzin salam we did just now? I am not sure if I actually have to forgive you with what you've just asked....Hahaha

Talking about the syawalan question, surprisingly a survey has been conducted about it, and guess what's the hated-most question is :
Too right you are! Among all, the "Kapan nikah" one is the most hated. Is this also the one that you hate too?
For me (this is not my most hated but, much more of a jaw-dropping one) my 2-second-jaw-dropping question was this : Ayi anaknya udah berapa?
I went to my
ustadz house (He was my guru mengaji) and the question was thrown at me and my
inner response was like “Wow, that escalated quickly” so I laughed
loudly-awkwardly back at the relatives who thrown the question. Man, really?
Does anyone not writing any flowchart-and-whatnot about questioning
systematically this syawalan questions? Why jump into having children before even ask about whether I've to married or not? Bhahaha I’ll go do the work of writing the flowchart and it will
roughly look like this :
The Syawalan flowcharts |
And if things weren’t random enough, mommy decide to step in, whilst I drove her around she asked about my future husband for hundreds and twenty times I am sure and my usual-normal respond would be “I won’t be marry here, I've been away for so long I think I know nobody decent enough” to which mommy reply was “Okay then it’s settled, I’ll look one for you” I burst into laugh “but that wasn’t a challenge ma!” so I said but meeennn she decided already -_-
If one day you hear that I am married into someone I've never met let alone mentioned in this blog, perhaps it's my mom that made me do it anyway hahaha.
But anyway,
despite all I have been having a very fun time back at home. The food, the laugh, my nephew and my parents have been the greatest things for this Idul Fitri. Dang, I just realized that it's almost 10 years of me living away from my parents in the name of better education. But really, time what's the hurry?
